Volunteer & Mentor Code of Conduct

Mentor A Promise, Inc. ("Mentor A Promise," "MAP," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to providing safe, respectful, and supportive environments for children, youth, families, volunteers, and community members. This public Code of Conduct outlines the standards we expect from volunteers, mentors, and representatives who engage with our programs.

1Our Commitment

Volunteers and mentors play an essential role in our mission. We expect all representatives to act with integrity, professionalism, and respect at all times.

2Respectful and Inclusive Behavior

Volunteers and mentors are expected to:

  • Treat all individuals with dignity and respect
  • Support inclusive and welcoming environments
  • Use appropriate language and behavior
  • Respect cultural, social, and personal differences
Harassment, discrimination, or bullying of any kind is not tolerated.

3Professional Boundaries

To protect youth and volunteers, appropriate boundaries must be maintained at all times. Volunteers and mentors should:

  • Follow program guidelines and supervision expectations
  • Avoid private or unsupervised interactions outside approved channels
  • Communicate respectfully and appropriately
  • Avoid conflicts of interest

4Safety and Safeguarding

Volunteers and mentors must prioritize safety by:

  • Following child safety and online safety guidelines
  • Reporting concerns promptly in accordance with the Safeguarding & Reporting Concerns Policy
  • Respecting organizational policies and procedures

5Responsible Communication

All communication related to Mentor A Promise programs should occur through approved channels whenever possible.

Inappropriate, harmful, or offensive communication is not permitted.

6Use of Media and Confidential Information

Volunteers and mentors must:

  • Respect participant privacy
  • Avoid sharing confidential or sensitive information
  • Follow organizational guidelines regarding photos and media

7Compliance with Laws and Policies

Volunteers and mentors are expected to follow:

  • Applicable laws and regulations
  • Organizational policies and procedures
  • Program and safety guidelines

8Reporting Concerns

Anyone who observes behavior inconsistent with this Code of Conduct is encouraged to report concerns:
